Desert Sampler

The Utah desert is a place with so much variety and many different locations to explore.   That's why we've created the Desert Sampler, which starts out in Salt Lake City, UT (with an option for Las Vegas, NV) From here your custom designed trip will travel and explore the changing scenery from Zion National Park to Bryce Canyon, onto Escalante and Capitol Reef and over past Lake Powell and through Moab.  These trips are custom designed as the time allotted for your trip will change the sights we are able to see. Some have wanted to do this trip a bit quicker, and others have taken 10 or more days, the choice is yours!

The classic Desert Sampler trip rotates between hotels and camping, visiting canyons and seeing the sights as we move through Southern Utah.

The standard itinerary is 7 days and is as follows

Day 1- Meet in SLC (Las Vegas is an option as well but itinerary will change slightly) Travel to Zion National Park.  Camping near Zion.  If we have time to explore we will go for a short hike

Day 2-Do a half day canyon around Zion such as Birch Hollow before moving to Bryce Canyon. Hotel near Bryce Canyon

Day 3-Visit Bryce Canyon and travel to Escalante off Hole in the Rock Road

Depending on our timing we visit Peekaboo and Spooky Canyon today or tomorrow.  Camping off Hole in the Rock Road

Day 4-Travel through Capitol Reef to a hotel just outside of the park.   The most popular canyon option to do today is Cassidy Arch Canyon inside Capitol Reef

Day 5-Today is a nice day of travel from Hanksville along the Dirty Devil River south to one of the only crossings of the Colorado River.  We then travel down to Hite, through to Natural Bridges National Monument and visit the Valley of the Gods, camping for the evening.

Day 6- Drive to Moab and check out one of the many canyon options for a nice half day adventure.  Another option for those who prefer hiking over canyons is to visit Arches National Park

Day 7-If time is running short the following day we can complete our Moab canyon today before heading back to Salt Lake City. Other options include Dead Horse Point or Canyonlands National Park.  The options can be truly overwhelming.

On the standard itinerary food is included in trip cost to simplify everything for you!

This is just one of the many enjoyable itineraries. Groups differ in the amount they want to hike, explore, travel in the car, and canyoneer.  For those that would like more Canyoneering time and less time in the car, that is certainly an option and easy to modify the trip in this way.

Trip runs at $1600 per person at 4 guests and includes food, transportation, hotels, guiding fees, permits, and insurance. Trip is again customizable to cut out hotels all together or stay in the nicest hotels.
